We were the youngest of lovers
Crossing the threshold of desire
Impatient and heated
Souls burning with the fires of youth
Bathing in the sureness of immortality
I shook my fists at the world
Then hid inside you for refuge
Sanctuary from an uncaring world
Now I am ancient
Shadows of crosses dull my eyes
So many years have slid past
Since first we touched each other’s hearts
Our young love still consumes my thoughts
Fills my passions
As if it were but yesterday
Ooohh how this melted my heart..

So enriching to be able to carry such love, such beautifully expressed emotions, into your ‘ancient’ world. A moving love poem, Jerry.

We were so young. Facing the world together. Never knowing where our lives might lead and not really caring. Together we have been invincible. As our bodies grow old, our love continues to wrap around us and draw us ever closer and will never die.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I have to say, that I know nothing about style or structure so its hard to tell sometimes if it qualifies as Poetry.

You are very welcome. I am with you on that. I never studied any style or structure. I can feel how your poems too come straight from the heart and life itself.
