Day 25 – What is your hometown known for?
A simple lifestyle, farming, clean air, natural disaster, destroyed.
Corn, wheat, soybeans, alfalfa, bugger slough, Wakenda Creek, Rhiemer’s pond, The hog lot, the old jail house, the railroad tracks, barefoot children walking on dirt roads to nowhere, no crime, friends, family and home.
Oh yea…it was the birthplace of the Backyard Poet. I think I’ll go put a sign up on the highway that reads…”Former site of Wakenda, Birthplace of Jerry Brotherton…The Backyard Poet” just to freak out those two cars that will drive past it next month.
Sacramento … the town between everything else. Ninety minutes to the mountains and snow and ninety minutes to San Francisco and the ocean.

Now that sounds wonderful. Although, I’m not sure I could relate to living in such a large city. Kind of like a great place to visit but…

Thanks for the words. I’m sorry you had to drive through Muleshoe. I have never had the pleasure but I think I can live with that. Although, maybe it is just the kind of place my wife and I are looking for.

it would be an iconic sign, one to inspire a movie

And about as many people would go see the movie as would see the sign… 2
