In my life I’ve known bold men that laid down their souls
And we sing of their virtues through lyrics and prose
But none sing the praises of wives left alone
Or the children who live with no father at home
To glory we said and to battle they’d rush
While wives stay at home and forgive them they must
War is hell for everyone and we must never forget it
A prayer to the survivors who each day must relive it
Yes true!

So true Jerry. We sometimes forget those who are left behind. A very poignant and fitting poem.

Loss from the other side. We should not forget about those left behind.

So true, Jerry. Thank you for this poem!
We should care for (and about) the families for as long as they need our help and support.

The words are hard and true. I keep in contact with some of the children of my friends killed in the new wars. We never talk of their fathers. I believe I should.
