Back to the Basics

Thank you for stopping by to say howdy. There have been a few changes taking place here in the backyard. It felt like this blog was on the verge of splitting its already frazzled seams. My original intent was to create a place where we could sit a spell and enjoy the art of poetry. But, somewhere along the line life began to invade my little haven and the world of politics and hatred started trampling out all the flowers on its constant walks to the outhouse.

Now, I’m not so naïve as to believe that the outside world won’t pay us a visit every now and again. I realize that because we are poets and poets are a passionate lot, there will still be some political poetry that will stroll down the path every so often and like any other traveler it will be welcomed to sit and have a glass of tea.

But in the interest of sanity I have created a sister site at www.JerryBrotherton.com where we can continue to fight the good fight in the war to seek out the truth in politics and social entanglements. So if you have reached this site in search of anything other than me and a few good friends sitting around the grill and discussing the beauty of the written word then you might want to jump on over and check it out. Otherwise, take your shoes off, grab a cold one and pull up a chair.

Welcome to my backyard.

Cheers.

  1. Good idea splitting things the way you have. I studiously try to avoid politics and the like on my blog. There is enough out there if someone wants to go that route.

I’m certainly not a poet but I do enjoy your work.

  2. Just wanted to let you know I’ve nominated you for an award, check out my post coming out later this afternoon. If you don’t like to participate in WordPress awards do not feel any pressure to do anything, just know I like your writing and I’m giving you a virtual thumbs up.
