100 Word Sunday – Autumn on the Walking Mall

Her fiery colored landscape sparkles through this frost covered morning. The sun hangs bright in the sky but lends little warmth to the street below. In all directions I see snow shrouded mountains glowing silver against a cloudless background. The smell of freshly baked pies and bread mixed with the sweetness of chocolate permeate from the small boutiques that line the avenue. Each with hand written ‘Welcome’ printed on the window. Small wisps of frozen breath drift skyward from each passerby’s lips. But all they can see of this wondrous day is their tiny screens held firmly in their hands.
