Thanks for playing along, the year was…

1967

Well John and Mitchy were getting kind of itchy – (Creeque Alley, The Mamas and the Papas), cause it was
kind of a drag – (Kind of a Drag – The Buckinghams)to not be
groovin’ on a Sunday afternoon – (Groovin – The Rascals). So I said we’re
going to San Francisco – (San Francisco, Scott McKenzie) and
I don’t care how much money I gotta spend – (The Letter, The Box Tops), so
we can fly – (Up Up and Away, The Fifth Dimension). Here, the
hometown looks the same – (Green Green Grass of Home, Tom Jones) but,
you’re gonna meet some gentle people there- (San Francisco, Scott McKenzie) and the
rows of houses that are all the same and nobody seems to care – (Pleasant Valley Sunday – The Monkees).
Nothing is real – (Strawberry Fields Forever, The Beatles) and there’s
nothing to get hung about – (Strawberry Fields Forever, The Beatles). So there’s not
a trace of doubt in my mind – (I’m a Believer, The Monkees) that’s
when logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead – (White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane), you can either
stand in the pouring rain – (Don’t Sleep in the Subway, Petula Clark) or
hide behind rainbow’s wall – (Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison). Now,
it was on the third of June, another sleepy, dusty delta day – (Ode to Billie Jo, Bobby Gentry)
you asked me if there’ll come a time – (Never My Love, The Association) that we’ll go riding along
on a carousel – (On a Carousel, The Hollies). I thought
you looked too good to be true – (Can’t Take my Eyes off of You, Frankie Vali and the 4 Seasons). You told me, “I aint
never loved a man – (I Never Loved a Man The Way I Love You, Aretha Franklin).” But
baby, I need your lovin’ – (Baby I Need Your Lovin, Johnny Rivers) and I know
what you want…baby, I got it – (Respect, Aretha Franklin). So
let’s spend the night together – (Let’s Spend the Night Together, Rolling Stones) and
don’t worry ‘bout tomorrow – (Let’s Live For Today, The Grass Roots) . Then,
all over the world you can hear the sound of lovers in love – (There’s a Kind of Hush, Herman’s Hermits). That’s when
we skipped the light fandango – ( Whiter Shade of Pale, Procol Harem) because we both knew that

all you need is love – (All You Need is Love, The Beatles).
