Young lives sacrificed to winter’s survival
Fields of brown saddened by missing hooves
Empty schools fill with sighs of freedom lost
Empty hearts break as love moves on
Green seas turn gold and brown
Trees explode with kaleidoscope colors
Anticipated fruit fills empty jars
New found lovers fill empty hearts
Your choice of image and phrase movingly capture the sense of change which Autumn brings.

Thank you Roland. Sorry for the lateness of the reply. For some reason I just saw this in the comments.

Thanks Liz. I call myself the Backyard Poet but poetry seems to be running away from me lately.

Yes, that poetry can be a slippery little creature at times.

The photo and your poem are a perfect pair.
Autumn…the season…is my favorite season. And I feel like I am in the autumn of my life, too.
Your word-pics, and the emotions, in your poem are powerful.
HUGS!!! 🙂
