Born on This Day: 1896 – Ruth Gordon Jones, screen name Ruth Gordon – American writer and Oscar winning actress. Ruth Gordon performed on stage in movies and won an Emmy for her supporting role in the television situation comedy ‘Taxi’.
Died on This Day: 1919 – Short Beach, CT – Ella Wheeler Wilcox – American poet and journalist, perhaps best known for her book of poetry ‘Poems of Passion’ which had been previously rejected as immoral.
