~ Racism ~

When the long arm of the law

belongs to an assassin

and protests alone

can bring no satisfaction

is the only choice left

to have a violent reaction

Bloods running hot

it’s beginning to boil

and the president’s

words are like fuel oil

to nourish the flames

and add to the turmoil

From a bunker he cries

“Shoot em all dead”

“They’re just thugs”, he lies

“Can’t let them live”

“They’re not rich or white”

“They’ve nothing to give”

An inept congress

is so indecisive

they can’t make a move

without the advice of

the business man

waiting for better prices

Respect for our brothers

has long gone away

It’s so easy for us

to look the other way

when racism slips

into the fray

Hell, into the fray

it didn’t have to slip

It busted through

with an unsuspected pip

and grabbed at the throat

with a vise-like grip

So now the streets

are exploding

fires are raging

bullets are loading

one small spark

could send bodies floating

Can we all step back

just for a bit

let cooler heads

make sense of it

before the whole world

turns to shit

Let’s do our part

at the ballot booth

Where we can finally

learn the truth

if there’ll be a nation

left to give our youth

Meet me on the Moon

Now for some good news that we might have missed

it ain’t no riot or pandemic so maybe didn’t make your list

For the first time in History a commercial craft flew to space

bringing humanity back into the great race

Though still bogged down with government oversight

cause we all know ‘Red Tape’ can be such a delight

We will see ‘Hitch a ride’ programs where we can buy

a ticket for luxury cruises to take us out past the sky

To hotels and eateries up there on the moon

and apartment complexes that’ll be coming soon

An outer space vacation package up in the stars

I’ll think I’ll wait and take mine on Mars

Just think of the significance of this historic day

when to all of our grand-kids we can proudly say

I remember on one planet we lived out our life

it was so filled with hate, war, hunger and strife

But we overcame those problems back when we learned

that if we only give love, we’ll only get love in return

Happy 43rd Birthday to My Oldest Son…

Joshua – 1977…
You probably don’t remember that day. Even for me it now seems like it was another universe. It was your first birthday. We called Fort Ord California home and, as it was with most Army families, we were as penniless as the winos down along the banks of the Salinas River. Your mother baked you a chocolate cake from a .29 cent box mix and decorated it with some homemade icing. We stripped you down to your diaper and sat you in your highchair while we sang birthday songs to you. You laughed as you crumbled your cake into oblivion.

Dumb Joke – The DNA Test…

After 3 years, a wife starts to think that their child doesn’t look like any of them, so she decides to have a DNA test done.
She gets the results back and finds out that the child is actually from completely different parents.
She tells her husband, “Honey, I have something very serious to tell you.”
“What’s wrong,” he asks?
“Well according to these DNA test results, Peter is not our child.”
“Well sure,” he said. “Don’t you remember? When we were leaving the hospital, we noticed that our baby had a wet diaper and you told me to go change the baby.”

Dad Joke of the Day: What kind of car does a sheep drive? A Lamborghini, but if that breaks down they drive their SuBAHHru.

Quote of the Day: Remember, 3/4 of the word can’t is can

November 13th in History:

November 13th is National…
Sadie Hawkins Day – originated in Al Capp’s cartoon “Lil Abner” when the mayor of Dogpatch was desperate to marry off his daughter. So he created Sadie Hawkins day. The idea was that a race was held where the single boys were given a head start and then chased by the single girls. If the girl could catch a boy, then he had to marry her.

Indian Pudding Day – English colonist introduced ‘Hasty Pudding’ to America in the 17th century. However, due to a shortage of grain, they substituted the wheat with cornmeal and the water with milk to create Indian pudding. So named because they had learned to grow corn from the indigenous people.

• World Kindness Day – Started in 1998 and has spread to more than 28 countries. There are very few things more infectious than kindness. Studies have proven that when we see an act of kindness we are more likely to do an act of kindness. Each of us has the potential to make someone’s life a little better, all it takes is a smile, a kind word or even a little patience. All of which we possess an unlimited supply of and are free to give away.
